Eventing Course at Belltrees
The Sydney Olympics in 2000 prompted a flurry of activity on one of the most famous horse facilities in Australia. The U.S. Equestrian Team
used the Belltrees facility to train in
the lead up to the Olympics. One of the
main benefits for them was the eventing course, which has been in existence since 1979, constructed in part by Michael White. It has grown and evolved in style and variety of jumps with each new competition. With the
arrival Olympic games came a major upgrade of the Belltrees cross-country course.
Course designer Michael Creber drew on 17 years of top level design experience for work on this project. A completely new
advanced course has been implemented, as current courses tend to under-test the more established horses. Of course, the welfare of the horses
was a priority consideration, and the focus of the obstacles
not only test, but also educate and encourage solid, quality jumping.
Two one-day events are held each year on the Belltrees course in March and July.
